New Mexico is no longer in the March Madness bubble conversation, but they can have a big say in how things may go for Utah State as they take on the Aggies in the Mountain West tournament quarters tonight (11:30 pm ET, CBS Sports Network).
Utah State (24-7, 13-5 Mountain West) is currently on the right side of the bubble at both ESPN and CBS, but a loss tonight could be detrimental if there are even a few bid stealers around the country.
Will the Aggies pick up a key win to close out tonight’s action in Las Vegas? Read on for our New Mexico vs Utah State basketball prediction and picks.

Will Utah State Overwhelm New Mexico Offensively Again?
The Aggies and Lobos have met once this season, an 84-73 win for Utah State in Logan on February 1.
In that matchup, USU scored 46 first-half points to take a 19-point halftime lead. UNM did try to get back into the game in the second half, but the closest they got was 60-52 with 10:25 left.
The Aggies have scored 80 or more points 14 times this season, and they have yet to lose when hitting that mark. On top of the perfect SU record, Utah State is 12-2 ATS when scoring 80+ points.
Two of those 14 games came in their final two regular season games at UNLV (a 91-66 win) and at home against Boise State (an 86-73 win), as the Aggies ended the regular season with five straight wins. Four those wins were by double digits, and they covered in all five wins.
New Mexico did open the Mountain West tourney with an 87-76 win over Wyoming, but things had been trending in the opposite direction for the Lobos, who went 2-7 SU and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine regular season games.
If there is one positive about UNM’s struggles, it’s that they have contributed to a lot of overs. In their last 13 games, the over is 10-2-1. They have given up 75 or more points nine times in that stretch, but they have scored 75 or more points ten times in the same period.
